What Can I Expect In My First Visit?

Welcome to the office! Your first visit to the Calgary Centre for Naturopathic Medicine will involve filling out a general information sheet including the major health concerns you would like addressed. Take the opportunity to save time for both yourself and our staff, by downloading the intake forms and bringing them in completed to your first appointment.

The visit with the doctor will include an in-depth history of your present health concerns, diet, energy and sleep patterns, major surgeries and general health status.
The history will be followed by a general physical exam, as well as specialized testing procedures using Bio Impedance Analysis, electrodermal acupuncture testing, and computerized segmental acupuncture measurements. Although these are fancy words, we assure you that nothing is remotely painful or invasive.

Other than exposing your bare feet, clothes are kept on during the visit.

As we believe that education is an important factor in the success of the program, the majority of your first visit is used to explain what is happening in your body and what is needed to correct the imbalance. You will be introduced to an entirely different form of medical diagnosis, so spending time with you to explain the results is very important.
Education is an important factor in your success

The information we gather at this time will then be used to design a program for you. Your customized program will be one that integrates lifestyle, physical and emotional exercises and supplements to achieve the desired result.

Naturopathic doctors are educated in all aspects of physical care therefore recent medical lab testing is an important part of the diagnosis and management of the patient. We request that the patient bring in any recent blood work to be evaluated during the visit.

Even if your recent blood and urine tests have come back ‘normal’, it is a good idea to bring in your lab work as Dr. Drobot has different ‘norms’ than the standard lab.

What About My Second Visit?

Your second visit will be scheduled typically one month later to evaluate your progress and make any necessary changes to your program. At this time specialized blood work, urinalysis, Terrain Analysis or Computerized BioResonance may be ordered to provide the doctor with the information to piece your history and current health state together. Subsequent visits will then be scheduled in three to six month intervals.

What If I Have Questions?

As education and knowledge are crucial in understanding how to achieve optimal health, we encourage you to ask questions. Even though Dr. Drobot is very busy, he knows your concerns are important and he does his very best to answer your questions in a timely manner. Please leave your questions with the front staff or email them to:

Does my health insurance cover seeing a Naturopath?

Check your insurance coverage -- As most extended health care plans cover all, or a portion of the cost of a visit to a naturopathic doctor. This is an invaluable resource that you've always had but may have never used.

Furthermore, medical fees charged by a naturopathic doctor not covered by insurance can be deducted on your personal income tax return. Unfortunately, expenditures made for dietary supplements recommended by your doctor are not considered medical expenses.

The Greatest Investment You'll Ever Make is Your Health!
